SIAE

SIAE is a point of reference for authors and publishers, as well as for those who operate in the entertainment industry. A society (in the language adopted by author’s societies it is often referred to as a “multi-purpose society”) that issues thousands and thousands of licenses for the uses of each work, thus facilitating the payment of royalties by the users and protecting the authors’ works. Authors, publishers, and other rightholders adhere voluntarily in order to economically protect their works. SIAE’s Headquarters is located in Rome, at Viale della Letteratura n. 30 (tel. 06/59901, fax 06/59647050-52). Siae is represented in Italy with 13 regional offices, 34 branch offices and over 600 agents.

Siae in the World

Siae has entered into agreements with Authors’ Societies all over the world, to protect all the repertoires it manages. Said agreements regulate the exploitation of its members’ works in foreign countries as well as the exploitation in Italy of the works of foreign societies’ members. It therefore belongs to a network that ensures the protection of rights worldwide. Siae belongs to all of the most important international organizations whose institutional goal is to cooperate in the field of copyright.

Agreements and Services

Besides its institutional function of protecting copyright, Siae can also fulfill specific tasks for the State. These tasks are defined in the agreements drawn with the Revenue Agency. In this field, Siae’s activity is finalized to: cooperate, through supervision and control, with the Revenue Agency offices in order to establish the amount of the entertainment taxes and VAT on entertainment and shows, as per law n. 398 of 1991; verify all tax violations relative to the show and entertainment fields; provide information to the tax payers; acquire and transmit data relative to the above mentioned fields directly to the Revenue Agency as well as to the Ministry of Culture.
